Man arrested in fatal Raleigh shooting

Raleigh, N.C. — Raleigh police arrested a 34-year-old man and charged him with murder in connection with a fatal shooting early Tuesday on Cross Street.

Brandon Danyell Reid is accused of shooting Darrice Jamar Covington, 24, at 1507 Cross St., shortly before 6 a.m.

Covington was transported to WakeMed Hospital, where he died. Reid was being held in the Wake County jail.

No more details about the shooting were released.

Reid was convicted in 1994 of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and served five years in prison, according to state Department of Correction records. Since then, he has been convicted of dealing drugs, credit card fraud and receiving a stolen vehicle.

TWC, I am a reasonable woman i can accept that,however maybe that just shows us maybe we should all be a little more open minded, step out of the box, stop judging people based on color, we all bleed red, There should be equal laws for every one, These are people lives were affected,terrible tragedy lets stick to the facts of the case, cause in my eyes a child molester is lowest scum on the face of the earth at least an adult can defend themselves, but on those stories there is no talk about race what good for the goose is good for the gander ps I am not oriental just have slanted eyes:)

Criminals had no issues with going to prison (some repeatedly, just look a the arrest photos each day) b/c they know they will be out soon and living the same life. It is time we stepped up and brought these lax rules to an end. You take away the rights of someone else, then your rights need to be removed. No tv, no weights, no luxuries at all. It is punishment for crying out loud!! Orange jumpsuits, grow your own food, and work on a chain gang. Then maybe people would stop being so mean, if the alternative was a harder to handle.

I get so tired of people making it a black or white issued with this page...Always he black he has a record... well white people go to jail as well as hispanics and other races..If you dont know these people mind your business..all parties involved have loss someone and until a judgment is handed down he is innocent
