Harold Weinbrecht Jr., mayor of Cary, said Monday he intends to run for re-election. If he succeeds, it would be his second term in office. Weinbrecht became mayor in 2007. He served four years on the town council from 1999-2003.
Weinbrecht is married, has two children and works as a programmer at SAS.
Michelle Muir, a marketing consultant, has also said she will contend for the office.
Cary's municipal election is Oct. 11.
