Benson police arrested a Dunn pastor Thursday on charges of sexual battery, according to jail records.

Paul Burke Johnson, 74, was taken to the Johnston County jail. He posted a $20,000 bond and was released.

A secretary at the Calvary Baptist Church, 283 N.C. Highway 55 in Dunn, confirmed he was a pastor at the church but would not comment further.

This crime of sexual battery by Pastor Johnson is clear indication that anyone can be a sexual perpetrator. People who initiate in sexual violence can be black, white, male, female, and even a pastor. I am grateful that someone spoke up against this man and charged him with this crime. In some states, other than ours, sexual battery is not even considered a crime. Sexual Battery is defined as unwanted touching of sexual nature by another person. This needs to be illegal in every state. How would the victim of this sexual battery feel if she could not get the justice she deserved?

I'm so glad I'm not a religious freak, becuase what I have is relationship. Any way, those of us that have a relationship and not religion should keep Pastor lifted in prayer and know that we all fall short and we all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. I'm not making excuses for Pastor but I am encouraing everyone to pray for him and ask the Lord to restore him. You'll never know when you'll need the same prayers...Yes Suh!!!

Religious freaks will defend him with the ole,"Well, we all sin" comment..........
