A Fuquay-Varina woman is accused of burning her son with a cigarette, according to an arrest warrant.

Carlotta Best, of 115 H Baytree St., was charged Friday with one count of misdemeanor child abuse.

The warrant states that a cigarette burn found on her son's arm last October was intentionally inflicted.

Best was given a $1,000 secured bond and scheduled to appear in court March 28.

$1000? Really? What is the world coming to when child abuse warrants such a low bond?! She could have stolen a bra from WalMart and gotten a higher bond!

That's terrible. Tobacco burns at an extremely high temperature. Even 1 ash falling accidentally on a finger can cause a bad burn! The bond is set way to low on this. If she does that, there's no telling what else she does to him!

And where is her son??? With relatives? With a foster family?
