Raleigh, N.C. — A registered sex offender was arrested Wednesday after he was seen in the play area of a McDonald's in Raleigh, authorities said.

Jefferson Benjamin Simmons, 52, of 3704 Hillcrest Drive in Raleigh, was at the McDonald's at 4121 Blue Ridge Road, authorities said. An arrest warrant indicates that Simmons violated the conditions of registering as a sex offender by going to the children's playground.

Simmons was convicted in Guilford County in 1996 of indecent liberties with a minor, according to state Department of Correction records. He was convicted on the same charge in Wake County in 1984, records show.

I too have known Jerrerson for most of my life. He was a terror when I was 33 years ago as he is today. Back then, he would hang out at laundry used by NCSU, Peace, St Marys and Meredith women to haunt them. I have heard he nows goes to grocery stores, department stores and restaurants to rub up and hug small girls.

He is a terror and dangerous. Yes, he is and always has been mentally ill but no excuse for his action in the last couple of years. He knows the law and will speak it to anyone who challenges so I am surprised he ventured into the playground area. I will say he has no parents and my guess no family

djofraleigh - you have to check the box for incarcerated people since he is now in custody at the Wake County jail...once you do that it pulls him right up.

Do a google search of his full name and go to the first link, then you will see another crazy mug shot of him. He must have other problems besided being a perp..
