An Elm City man is accused of shooting and killing his brother on Wednesday afternoon, the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office said.

Charles Robert Hall, 54, is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting of 61-year-old Emmett Kenneth Hall.

The shooting happened outside a home at 6110 Sharpe Store Road.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they found Emmett Hall outside with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said Charles Hall fled into a nearby wooded area. He was located a short time later with the use of search crews.

Charles Hall was transported to Wilson Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained during a fight with his brother before the shooting.

According to neighbors, the brothers were visiting their nephew who lives at the home.

parent of 2...j-lo93.....Did you ever think it wasnt breaking news so parents didnt rush to the school and cause more hysteria and chaos while law enforcement was looking for the suspect? NO, you didnt. There are other matters that take precedent over what you deem as important. Your children were safe in the school.

We are sorry to hear that angiehall....hope maybe oneday you will overcome this horrible memory. :( Reason for saying so my mom also had to administer CPR on my stepfather that memory stayed with her for awhile until she taught herself to overcome it. MAY GOD BE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY......

I do apologize for any inconvenience the murder of my uncle may have caused any of you. I would have loved some notice before I had to administer CPR on him in attempt to save his life.

my kids attend ECE and ECM but you cannot do anything about it. During a full lockdown NOBODY IN AND NOBODY OUT!! And if the lockdown was still in effect at dismissal only parents would have been aloud to PICK UP students. Buses would not have run.

the elementary school and daycare was on lockdown as well. Would have been nice to seen this as breaking news considering my kids attend ECE and i work out of town
