A man hit by a car in Raleigh Friday was seriously injured, police said, but was expected to live.

Police closed the intersection of Capital Boulevard and Spring Forest Road for about two hours Friday after the incident.

Jim Lee Paulson, 39, of Raleigh, was hit while trying to cross the roadway, according to the wreck report. He was not at a crosswalk. The driver tried to avoid him by hitting the brakes and swerving to the left, but was unable to do so.

Paulson was listed in good condition at WakeMed Hospital on Saturday.

No charges were filed against the driver.

Thank God he's alive. That's not the kind of news you want to hear when you're eating at Olive Gardens!
