Knightdale mother charged with child abuse

print friendly

A Knightdale mother has been charged with misdemeanor child abuse and resisting arrest.

Arrest warrants filed by Knightdale police state that Paris Renee Lowe-James, 51, of 308 Indiana Ave., gave her daughter a bloody nose and swollen lip. Her daughter was less than 16 years old at the time.

Police said that during the arrest, Lowe-James fought an officer taking her to jail.

She was given a $7,000 secured bond and scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 21, 2011.

Court records state that as a further condition of her release, Lowe-James must have no unsupervised contact with any minor. Records show that she was the subject of an investigation by Wake County Social Services earlier this year.

Cindy you are contradicting yourself so if I was you, I'd let it go. By saying maybe she needed to get knocked back down to her level is making an assumption that the daughter did something and therefore you also are judging someone. The fact of the matter is no matter which way you choose to discipline your child, whether it be spanking, or punishment it should never be punching in the face or as you said it didn't say that so let me make it easier for you to understand...it shouldn't be giving your child a busted lip & bloody nose or having your child in that much fear that they call the police on you. There are plenty of other ways to handle an out of control child but like I said I know these people and this child is in no way disrespectful or harmful to anyone else. She's about 60 pounds soaking wet and regardless of age or size you DO NOT harm a child in that way. So don't assume that everyone thinks you agree with child abuse...it was your own wording that put you in this situat

Wow. If you read and understand what I wrote. I was not agreeing with beating your chidlren. You assumed from one person to the next. I was remaing netural untill more information was given. Trying to get people to stop judgeding everything. Apparentaly that did not work because you all ASSUMED I agree with child abuse. As for as me saying "From experience maybe she needed to be knock back down to her lvl". Which is made most of you mad. I could see why but with out getting more information from me you ASSUMED I agree with the mother. I have seen children to young adults physically attack there parent, younger sibling and/or caretakers. Really all was asking for was more information then was put up in the article at the time. Just based on the article not enough was given to automatically assume that YOUR GUILTY UNTILL PROVEN INNOCENT.

cindyjleedom2...There is a difference is discipline and abusing your child. A bloody nose and swollen lip is abuse! No question about it! I was spanked and agree with spanking as a form of discipline, when necessary. However, hitting your child with your fist is NOT discipline! Good luck with your argument on that one.

cindyjleedom2 -- Well, if you can give a kid a bloody nose AND a busted lip in one shot, then you've got one heck of a punch. That normally takes more than one. There is another poster who knows the child in question who used the number 13 as her age, but even still, the article clearly says "under 16." Are you seriously asserting that punching a child is acceptable discipline?

AND by the way cindy, a bloody nose and a swollen lip is getting hit multiple times. Thanks for your input anyway.
