A man posing as a fire marshal has stolen items from several Fayetteville businesses while conducting "inspections," police said Monday.

Police didn't disclose the names or locations of the businesses that had been targeted, noting only that a Rolex watch was among the items taken.

Anyone who has information about the man's identity or the thefts is asked to call the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-433-1856.

The Rolex must have been in violation of fire code.

Here's another tip... the fake fire marshal will be wearing a Rolex.

well, i hate to say it...the people who believed he was the fire marshall have either never actually had a visit from the fire marshall or just dont pay attention...because the fire marshall would NEVER be dressed like that!!!

Same guy came by our offices up here in Morrisville. He left before they could get any info, scooted out in a plain white car.
