Child found dead in Sanford pool

Sanford, N.C. — A 16-month-old child was found dead in a family member’s pool in Sanford over the weekend, Lee County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

Investigators said the child was found in a pool connected to his grandfather’s home at 3615 Pilson Road on Saturday afternoon.

Authorities said the boy’s parents said they lost sight of him. He was found a short time later in the 4-foot-deep pool.

The investigation is ongoing. The child’s body has been sent for an autopsy.

According to the Sanford Herald, the parents had just lost custody of this child last week to the Moore County DSS. They were visiting the child at the grandfathers home. Very Sad.
