Cary, N.C. — A Cary man has been charged with felony animal abuse for allegedly kicking a chihuahua, according to an arrest warrant.
The warrant alleges that Steven M. Soukup, 24, of 15111 Foresight Drive, kicked the dog, breaking its pelvis and severely bruising its buttocks and right inner ear.
The dog, named Hurley, underwent surgery at North Carolina State University's veterinary school, the warrant states. The dog was fitted with seven screws and a metal plate to fix the injury.
Soukup was arrested Tuesday.
