Raleigh, N.C. — The state Highway Patrol on Monday placed Trooper Michael L. Potts on administrative duty, Sgt. Jeff Gordon confirmed Tuesday.

The agency would not say what prompted the disciplinary action.

Potts has been with the agency since Feb. 17. 2001, and was assigned to Durham and Granville counties, Gordon said.

The Highway Patrol's image has been plagued in recent years by a number of cases involving state troopers who have resigned, been fired or been disciplined for inappropriate or questionable conduct, including profiling, drunken driving, animal abuse, sex on duty and inappropriate text messages.

It's good WRAL put up a new "story" yesterday afternoon, considering where leosince1999 was taking this one. Shame on you for making assumptions regarding this officer, if not false accusations. Tell me you're not still leo, because you scare me. It appears Potts' ticketing to Hispanics has been called into question. I would say that more LEO should be handing out those. Potts gets my support based on statistics. To WRAL, get the story before you post it for ridicule. Thanks.

My point is that it could be a number of things other than a sex scandal. And yes I do hope it is something else.

LIVEITUP, I see you used the words "certainly hope that isn't the case." Sounds like you know him like I do and you think it could be the case. You just hope its not the case for his wife and beautiful son. All I'm saying is maybe Raleigh needs to look at it further or maybe his wife needs to do some questioning.

It would not suprise me if he is involved in a sex scandal. Unless he has changed, doubtful, then its a very good possiblity! Raleigh really needs to take a good hard look at this trooper and need not stop with the accusation at hand!
