Fayetteville, N.C. — A Fort Bragg soldier has been charged with raping a Fayetteville woman, police said Thursday.
Staff Sgt. Shawn Michael Webb, 30, was charged Tuesday with second-degree rape and driving while impaired. He was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $25,000 bond.
A 21-year-old woman told investigators that she was sexually assaulted inside Webb's Fayetteville home on July 31 after they had met at a bar, police said. The DWI charge was from an unrelated traffic stop on July 25, according to court records.
Webb joined the Army in August 1999 and came to Fort Bragg in May 2002. He is assigned to the 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division.
