Has anyone considered that the woman might have just scored and was out celebrating?

"Amyrn", I agree with your statement but in no way was I assuming they should be tied to a post. BUT there should be responsible people assisgned to these folks, whether family or service providers. Silver Alert System is overused. Doesn't this make you ask, "why?". Where are social Services? Are they investigating why these folks with "cognitive disorders" are allowed to wonder away?

There are a lot of people with cognitive disorders, you can't tie them to a post and leave them there all day. So, if the silver alert system saves just one of these people, it's doing its job.

I am seriously starting to think this silver alert system is abused and overused. There was an alert issued Friday for a man in Kinston. He was driving a truck and was last seen on a highway that leads to the beach, on one of the busiest beach weekends of the year. THAT alert has been canceled.

I understand the need for "Silver Alerts and Amber Alerts" etc. but it seems theirs not one but at least two, if not three silver alerts each week, posted on WRAL. Are North Carolinians who take care of theirs elders just not watching them? Are they supposed to be under better care? It seems most of them have some sort of "dementia" or other disorder. The point of this post is these daily alerts are like crying "wolf" when there is no wolf. Does NC Social Services (or other State Org.) even investigate these alerts and ask "why" these people are walking away or disappearing?
