Littleton, N.C. — The search resumed Sunday morning for a 24-year-old Raleigh man who disappeared while swimming in Lake Gaston Friday night.
Rescuers in boats and a dive team were searching for Karl Besas in the lake off Blue Bird Point in Littleton, said Lt. George Evans, with the Halifax County Sheriff's Office. The search will continue until nightfall.
Besas was among five friends, all from Wake County, who went boating on the lake, authorities said. The group jumped into the lake and went swimming, but Besas never returned to the boat.
Rescue teams searched the lake and nearby shore Saturday.
Investigators do not suspect foul play.
