Littleton, N.C. — Crews have temporarily called off the search for a 24-year-old Raleigh man who disappeared Friday night at Lake Gaston, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.
Karl Besas was among five friends, all from Wake County, who went boating on the lake, authorities said. The group jumped into the lake and went swimming, but Besas never returned to the boat.
Lt. George Evans said that a dive team searched the lake, and others searched the grounds at Blue Bird Point in Littleton Saturday.
The search was called off at nightfall but was expected to resume Sunday morning.
Investigators do not suspect foul play, authorities said.
