RALEIGH, N.C. — Knightdale police say they still have no leads in the assault and robbery of a 69-year-old grandmother in an Applebee's parking lot on Sunday.

Wilma Creech said she was walking from her car to the Knightdale Boulevard restaurant around lunchtime when a man approached from behind, caught her by surprise and grabbed her purse.

"I evidently had a tight hold on it, and he pulled me so that it turned me back around," Creech said.

She fell and hit her head on the concrete. She suffered bruises, scratches and a broken arm.

Police said the robber fled the scene in an older model Ford Ranger, blue or green in color, with heavy damage to the rear.

Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is asked to call the Knightdale Public Safety Department at 919-217-2261.

Creech said she will meet next week with a surgeon to discuss the options for her broken arm.

A self-described fighter, Creech said she's faced much tougher obstacles.

In 2001, she battled a brain tumor, and in 2007, she fought breast cancer.

"If I had my cane, I might've been able to trip him," she said.
