Crash closes part of Gregson Street in Durham

print friendly

Durham police said the 400 block of Gregson Street would be closed until about 9:30 a.m. Monday due to a crash.

"The driver of a Nissan Maxima lost control of her vehicle, ran off Gregson Street near Gloria Avenue and hit two parked vehicles," police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said. "The Maxima then struck a large trailer, causing the trailer to overturn."

The driver of the Maxima was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. No other information was released.

@ dacoty, one fact i can glean from that story is that it doesn't say where the driver is from. so, you're assumption that the driver is from durham looks an awful lot like durham bashing to me.

I AM NOT BASHING DURHAM - It's a fact! A lot of people in Durham CAN'T DRIVE. Cops don't care. And i never said this is only in Durham. Get off your high horse.

Just how fast was she going for goodness sake?

But dacoty is right, the cops don't care because they are preoccupied with murders, muggings, and drive by shootings.

Durham bashers, give us a break. People drive poorly in cities everywhere, don't be so naive. The problem with this area is exactly what 68_Polara is getting at - no north-south highway to get drivers north of durham to the durham freeway. NCDOT has it's teeth in the residential streets gregson/duke/roxboro/mangum/avondale/alston, and maintains them as 1-way speed thoroughfares for the convenience of commuters. hence, people routinely hit 55 mph on these 35mph streets trying to get to and from work. this is why accidents happen. Things will not change in these corridors until either the durham police starts to seriously enforce speed limits, or the east end connector is built and NCDOT cedes these streets back to the city of durham, allowing the city to make them 2-way again. BRING ON THE EAST END CONNECTOR!!

Problems like non driving?
