A Wayne County man whose car was stolen at gunpoint Thursday followed the gunman in another vehicle and helped foil a robbery at a nearby convenience store, authorities said.

After an armed man ordered Alberto Trejo Ramos out of his car on Riverwoods Drive and drove off in the vehicle, Ramos jumped in a friend's vehicle and followed the carjacker while calling 911, authorities said.

The carjacker drove to Five Points Food Mart, at 335 U.S. Highway 13 South, and tried to rob the store, authorities said. While he was inside the store, Ramos and his friend blocked the stolen car to prevent the robber from fleeing, and Wayne County deputies arrived at the scene.

The clerk told the robber the store didn't have a lot of money, so the man demanded $10 and fled on foot with it, authorities said.

Deputies chased the robber into some nearby woods, where they apprehended him. A K-9 recovered a gun that the robber threw into the woods as he ran.

Justin Andrew Godfrey, 19, of 232 Weston Circle in Goldsboro, was charged with armed robbery, injury to personal property and resisting a public officer. He was being held Friday in the Wayne County jail under a $77,500 bond.

Authorities said more charges are expected in the case.

Great work - and another thug bites the dust. Hope that $10 robbery and carjacking give him about 25 years to think about what he did wrong! Did his parents not teach him anything?

We need something like boot camp for young offenders. They need a "reboot" for lack of a better term.

Didnt charge him with felony for steeling the car?? odd

This guy might want to try working for a living. That was a lot to do for $10 - I mean, after he gets out of prison!

Have you ever played GTA? There are missions where you chase down bad guys. So maybe his driving skills played a part in stopping a robbery?
