Local and federal agents last week found 1,800 pounds of marijuana on a tractor-trailer parked in Hoke County, authorities said Tuesday.

Acting on a tip, investigators with the Hoke County Sheriff's Office, the Robeson County Sheriff's Office, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives searched the tractor-trailer on June 30 and found the drugs hidden inside.

The marijuana had an estimated street value of $1.8 million, authorities said.

No arrests have been made in the case, which remains under investigation.

I know people who smoke and i know just as many who do not. I personally think it should be legalized. As far as people committing crimes after or to get the money for. It does happen. Just like it happens for alcohol and tobacco. That is just the character of the individual. Not the drug. That person will commit a crime for whatever they are trying to get. Does not matter what their mind altering substance of choice is. Legalize it, tax it.

"I don't think so. Everyone don't won't to be a druggy."

Then everyone won't smoke it, will they? Why do people believe that if marijuana were made legal to possess and sell that many more people would suddenly start using it? If you want to use it, you already have an illegal way to obtain it and probably are. If you don't use it, you probably aren't going to suddenly start using it either. Why would that happen? And obviously, laws making it legal would "protect the children" as well and make it illegal to sell it to or be possessed by anyone under 18 or 21. It's not like 10 year olds will talk into Harris Teeter and pick up some pot from the produce aisle.

And not only would tax money be acquired from its sale, but tax money would also be saved because you would no longer be arresting, trying, and jailing people that possess or sell marijuana.

Which would you rather see young people do?? Smoke a little weed, or down a pint of alcohol?? I don't know all the health issues with weed, but I do know that alcohol has many health issues. I know people that have smoked weed for 40 years and I know people who have been drinkers for 40 years, and the dopers seem in better healh than the drinkers. Decriminalise it, tax it, and quit making criminals out of people having fun.

"your a dope if you smoke dope!"

Back in my younger days, I actually recall meeting potheads that, although stoned most of the time, knew the difference between "your" and "you're".

Just saying...

A guy sitting on 1800 lbs. is not gonna be selling ounces. You might be able to score a kilo though. I heard from a reliable source they nearly had the traffickers until some fool undercover officer from Scotland Co. came driving up in his bright yellow undercover car and spooked them.
