Red Springs, N.C. — Local and federal agents last week found 1,800 pounds of marijuana on a tractor-trailer parked in Hoke County, authorities said Tuesday.
Acting on a tip, investigators with the Hoke County Sheriff's Office, the Robeson County Sheriff's Office, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives searched the tractor-trailer on June 30 and found the drugs hidden inside.
The marijuana had an estimated street value of $1.8 million, authorities said.
No arrests have been made in the case, which remains under investigation.

Then everyone won't smoke it, will they? Why do people believe that if marijuana were made legal to possess and sell that many more people would suddenly start using it? If you want to use it, you already have an illegal way to obtain it and probably are. If you don't use it, you probably aren't going to suddenly start using it either. Why would that happen? And obviously, laws making it legal would "protect the children" as well and make it illegal to sell it to or be possessed by anyone under 18 or 21. It's not like 10 year olds will talk into Harris Teeter and pick up some pot from the produce aisle.
And not only would tax money be acquired from its sale, but tax money would also be saved because you would no longer be arresting, trying, and jailing people that possess or sell marijuana.

Back in my younger days, I actually recall meeting potheads that, although stoned most of the time, knew the difference between "your" and "you're".
Just saying...
