Raleigh, N.C. — A Raleigh man was charged Wednesday with trying to kill a 9-year-old in April, according to arrest warrants.
Antoine Ahmet Tarver, 22, of 5110-106 Neuse Commons Lane, was charged with attempted murder and discharging a weapon into occupied property. He was being held in the Wake County jail under a $1 million bond.
Warrants state that Tarver fired a gun into a home at 8560 Neuse Landing Lane on April 9 and that he tried to kill the 9-year-old on the same date. It was unclear if both charges resulted from the same incident or were unrelated.
Tarver was placed on probation May 25 after being convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia, according to state Department of Correction records.
He previously served 2½ years in prison for convictions for armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by a felon. DOC records show that while in prison, he racked up 19 infractions, including rioting, fighting and being involved with a gang.
