Raleigh, N.C. — A Raleigh woman is accused of lying in order to get about $5,500 in public assistance from the state of North Carolina, according to an arrest warrant.
Adele Barker, 28, of 1333 Swing Line Way, faces charges of childcare subsidy fraud, public assistance fraud and food stamp fraud.
The warrant states that Barker told a Wake County Human Services case manager that was she was not living with her children's father when she, in fact, was.
Barker was being held in the Wake County jail Sunday under a $30,000 bond. Her first court appearance was set for Monday.

Yeah right... I'll be eagerly awaiting the conversation on that one... this is the first time since I've been on GOLO where there's been an actual article about someone charged with public assistance fraud... you think that's stopped people from making the comments though? I think not... like I said, welfare recipients aren't just black and those abusing the system aren't just black either... but that's all people ever seem to talk about, whether it's warranted or not... hardwork919
i agree. and that is my point. one of just a few thousand that does it and she happens to be black and reporte to the news.
