  • Breaking News:  The Wake County Board of Education released the names of three finalists in their search for a new superintendent Tuesday. The candidates will visit the school system next week to visit schools, meet staff and undergo a final round of interviews.
  • Just In: A 15-year-old boy charged in the Jan. 5 shooting deaths of a couple in their Wake County home can be tried as an adult, a District Court judge ruled Tuesday. Search warrants in the case indicate the couple, Jose and Maria Mendoza, were unintended targets in a gang war between two rival gangs. The boy is one of two people charged in the case.

New Hanover deputy resigns after DWI

A deputy with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office lost his job after a weekend arrest.

Matthew Brandon Jordan, 26, submitted his resignation Monday.

He was charged with driving while impaired Friday night by the North Carolina Highway Patrol in Johnston County. He was off duty at the time.

Jordan had been with the sheriff's office since 2006.

I know him and he is a respectable man. He made a dumb mistake. He did the right thing to resign.

Journey, are these the only type articles you like to make comments on? You must have been in jail, prison, or recieved a lot of tickets...cop hater....ignorant

Finally an officer who is man enough to stand up for what he did. Rather than calling his buddies to get him off or go to a motel!!!! If there were more LEO's like him then we would have more respect for them. Sorry that he lost his job. Now maybe he can be a motivational speaker to the active LEO's on how to be a responsible MAN!!!

That is not his arrest pic. The article clearly states he was off duty. If you look at his shirt, it is a uniform shirt. That's probably the picture from is credential ID.

Needs to wipe that smile off his face... I guess he thinks it's just a big 'ol joke, huh. I presume that's his arrest pic.
