Coast Guard rescues man from capsized boat

print friendly

The Coast Guard rescued a man whose boat had capsized 2 nautical miles off Carolina Beach Friday evening.

The man radioed for help around 6:30 p.m., saying that his 16-foot vessel had capsized and he was on top of the hull, Coast Guard officials said. A Coast Guard member spotted the man from a pier, and the crew on a 41-foot boat dispatched from Wrightsville Beach rescued him.

The man was wearing a life jacket, officials said.
