NEW HILL, N.C. — Officials said rubber tires caught fire late Saturday at a shooting range in Wake County.

The tire rubber is used to absorb the bullets at the range, located along the 5000 block of Shearon Harris Road.

The fire started at about 8 p.m. and burned for two hours, officials said.

The shooting range is near the Shearon Harris Nuclear Generating Station. The facility was not affected by the fire, officials said.
