Troopers charged a 34-year-old man with impaired and reckless driving Sunday morning after he drove an SUV the wrong way on Interstate 95 and crashed into a tractor-trailer, authorities said.

Aurturo Cristino was driving south in the northbound lanes of I-95 near the the Johnston-Wilson County line around 4 a.m. Sunday, said Trooper Sinch.

Cristino's SUV hit a tractor-trailer head on near Exit 97 and the tractor part of the truck burned to the ground, Sinch said.

The truck driver survived. Cristino suffered minor injuries and was being treated at Johnston County Medical Center. Southbound lanes of I-95 were closed while crews cleared the scene.

"Leo-nc: Gee.....it sure got quiet after that one, didn't it?"

Actually, I went to work. I have better things to do than sit around and refresh this page all day long, just so I can throw out insults and spread hate.

"I really don't know what race has to do with this story anyway. It is the fact that the man was intoxicated that matters, not the fact that he is Spanish. Or Black. God FORBID white. And let me just say this to laursadad, you are certainly acting racist and sexist all in one paragraph. Shame."----

So tell me this. If it has nothing to do with that, or at least the hispanic culture, then explain to me why they are three times more likely to drive drunk? Just curious how you're going to explain that. All but ONE of the serious wrecks I've seen involving drunk drivers have been hispanics driving drunk, then killing someone. All but one in the past few years. How do you explain that?

I really don't know what race has to do with this story anyway. It is the fact that the man was intoxicated that matters, not the fact that he is Spanish. Or Black. God FORBID white. And let me just say this to laursadad, you are certainly acting racist and sexist all in one paragraph. Shame..

6079 SMITH W - VERY WELL SAID!!!

I'm with you Leo-nc. How many wrecks have we had in this area caused by Hispanics under the influence? And how many of those were caused by illegals? Far too many. The only thing more dangerous than a woman on a cell phone is a Hispanic behind the wheel of any motor vehicle. That last part is my own bigotted, and correct, opinion.
