Couple's bodies found during Four Oaks house fire

A Four Oaks woman had been tied up and shot twice at close range before her body was found in a burning house on Jan. 11, according to autopsy results.

Firefighters found Sue Anne Beasley, 65, in her house at 125 Hollow Oak Drive, and her husband, L.C. Beasley, 66, in a nearby storage shed. He had been shot twice, his autopsy found.

Sue Anne Beasley's hands were tied behind her back with cloth cords, and her ankles were tied with a web belt, the autopsy says. She was shot once in the forehead and once in the left eye.

A toxicology showed that the saturation of carbon monoxide in her blood was less than 5 percent, according to her autopsy.

Barney Edward Gamble, 48, of King Mill Road, faces two counts of first-degree murder in the couple's deaths, along with charges of first-degree kidnapping, arson and larceny of a motor vehicle. He was being held in Central Prison without bond.
