Greensboro, N.C. — Guilford County authorities have charged a Raleigh firefighter with trying to solicit sex from an underage girl in an online chat room.
Richard Brandon Wells, 31, of 554 Howard Tant Road in Zebulon, was charged with solicitation of a minor by computer to commit an unlawful sex act and attempted indecent liberties with a minor. He was being held Friday in the Guilford County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond.
A deputy posing as a 14-year-old girl communicated online with a man for several months, and the man proposed meeting the deputy for sex, authorities said. The arrest was part of an ongoing investigation by the Piedmont Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce.

If you son or daughter has unlimited access to any computer, they may be at risk. Keep the pc or mac in open access area of your home. check the logs, avoid those social network sites, you know what they are.
And NO WEB CAMERA on you kid's computer, NEVER EVER!
We will never know how many kids are victims of these perverts.
Many are classified as troubled teens, runaways, etc, when the reality is they were victims of perverts like the accused.
Protect your kids by talking to them daily.

Your last comment proves that you don't have the qualifications to speak about how criminal investigations should be done. You made that clear, so it's not my opinion or assumption. He could have stopped talking to the "girl", but he clearly kept going back for more. The "to catch a predator" show takes much longer than the one hour it's on TV. Those also can take weeks or months.
