Army Capt. David Thompson, killed in Afghanistan

Two Fort Bragg soldiers and a Camp Lejeune Marine were killed in Afghanistan in recent days, the Department of Defense announced Tuesday.

Army Capt. David J. Thompson, 39, of Hooker, Okla., was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group at Fort Bragg, and Spc. Marc P. Decoteau, 19, of Waterville Valley, N.H., was assigned to the 6th Psychological Operations Battalion (Airborne), 4th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne) at Fort Bragg.

Both were killed Friday in Wardak province while supporting combat operations, officials said.

Lance Cpl. Michael L. Freeman Jr., 21, of Fayetteville, Pa., died Monday while supporting combat operations in Helmand province. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune.

I am so sorry for the families of these brave men. I was shocked when I heard about Capt.Thompson,he was a super nice man who adored his wife and kids. I have seen Capt. Thompson with his children on many occassions, and it was so obvious that he cherished them with all of his heart and they absolutely loved him in return.

Thank you for your self-less service.
