Police on Thursday charged a man in a New Year's Day shooting outside a Raleigh hotel that wounded three people.

Michael Charles Sloan, 21, was arrested in Durham by members of the Raleigh Police Department's Fugitive Squad and was charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

At about 3 a.m. on Jan. 1, police said, a group of people going into the Hilton Garden Inn, at 6412 Capital Blvd., near Interstate 540, began arguing with another group that was leaving. Someone pulled out a gun and began firing, police said.

Jeffrey Laquan Whitley, 29, was seriously wounded, but his condition was unknown Thursday. James Louis Boone, 18, and Kenneth Houston Boone, 19, were treated at WakeMed and released.

First of all, it's a "concealed handgun permit". Second, people have them not to stop random crime, but to hopefully protect themselves if a crime is committed against them. It's not a guarantee, but being armed just might give you a better chance of surviving...that's all.

Good job of RPD doing trash collection.

Yet another of our nation's "well armed militia" exercising his Constitutional rights.

But the Constitution also only counts him as 3/5ths of a person, so maybe that is why the people were only injured and not killed.

It is good to see all the conceal and carry permits out there were a deterrant to him firing his weapon. Or is this the fault of the liberal media?

Raleigh's FINEST! I'm sure he won't be in jail long. His face looks MEAN and SCARY! You can see the hate in his eyes.

Electric chair for this fool too. Unless someone says this is self defense.. I'm sure he had a conceal carry permit for the gun too right?

It was News Years night people not everyone are drug dealers.
