A Benson man was killed in a Christmas Eve hunting accident on a Sampson County hunting reserve, authorities said Monday.

Edward Allen Raynor Jr., 28, was with a group hunting deer on private property about 3 miles outside of Garland when he was shot and killed by Sanford Walter Smith, a member of the same hunting party, at about 2 p.m. Dec. 24, said Sgt. Andrew Waldrop of the state Wildlife Resources Commission.

Waldrop said the shooting remains under investigation, and officers plan to meet with local prosecutors to determine whether any criminal charges are warranted in the case.

Perhaps you don't understand that this is a comment section, where people come to comment on the news stories...

While I don't agree with everything people post, they have a right to post and I don't call their comments "assanine" just because I don't agree with them.

If there is a comment you consider "assanine" then perhaps you can offer some thoughtful, intelligent reply with your views.

To tell people not to comment in a comment section is, in and of itself, "assanine."

What is a Salem witch hunter?

I mean buzz off!

Every hunting accident is not an accident. Sometimes it is intentionally, bad to say. Just know who you are hunting with. Be very safe and follow the rules of hunting.
