Conway father charged in baby's death

Conway, N.C. — A Conway father is accused of killing his 13-month-old daughter.

Jermaine Obrian Freeman, 26, was charged with first-degree murder and felony child abuse on Wednesday, authorities said.

He was being held Sunday in jail without bond and is scheduled to appear in a Northampton County courtroom on Monday.

Preliminary autopsy results show Khisha Lachelle Freeman died from blunt force trauma to the head on Dec. 20.

The baby lived at 414 Wood Court in Conway with her mother and father.

Her funeral was held Sunday at Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church in Jackson.

This is so sad! How can anyone murder an innocent child? This story is so close to home. I live only about 25 mins from this town. I hope this man pays dearly for what he has done. They need to throw him under the jail!!!!!!!

May her memories be on his mind and se her forever. This was horrible! The mother should have never left this baby with this so-call father. An angel in heaven now.

Wow.....if the baby was getting on his nerves that much why not just put her in a playpen or crib, close the door for a few minutes and pull it together? This is more common than reported. People really need to take a time out before handling a baby when they are stressed or angry. If there are other children in the home I hope DSS removes them. Just because people can reproduce doesn't mean they should have children.

What is wrong with people? Could someone please tell me what a 13 month old baby could do that would make you so mad you would want to hurt them? Same thing goes for all these men killing their wives, some of them were pregnant. If you don't love the woman anymore leave her or if you can't handle your anger and are watching a small child put the child in the room for a few minutes and get yourself under control or better yet bring the child to the grandmothers or aunts house. Do something for goodness sake other than resorting to violence.
