Man arrested in deaths of N.C. women found in S.C.

Gastonia, N.C. — A North Carolina man has been arrested in the deaths of two women whose bodies were found in northern South Carolina.

Multiple media outlets reported that Danny Robbie Hembree Jr., 47, of Gastonia, was arrested Saturday.

Hembree is charged in the deaths of Randi Dean Saldana, 30, and Heather Catterton, 17.

Saldana's body was found burned on a road in Kings Mountain State Park in South Carolina last month. Catterton's body was found near Clover, S.C., in late October.

Heather's father, Nick, said Hembree had been dating another of his daughters, Nicole, and sometimes stayed in their home.

Nick Catterton said he knew Hembree had been in prison previously, but he didn't notice anything unusual about him.

It was unclear if Hembree had an attorney.

In January, Hembree completed a four-year prison sentence for two common-law robbery convictions, according to state Department of Correction records. DOC records show that his criminal record dates to 1979 and that he also served time for three other common-law robbery convictions, as well as breaking-and-entering, larceny and forgery charges.

It amazes me how many womean gravitate toward this kind of man, and then go even further by exposing their children to them. People don't go to prison for being sterling characters. They go to prison because they've been convicted of a crime of some sort. Why expose your family to someone that already has shown they can't be trusted?
