Princeton, N.C. — Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating the death of a man whose body was found at a Princeton cemetery Thursday morning.
An employee of Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, off U.S. Highway 70 west of Goldsboro, discovered the body on the ground while arriving at work around 8:45 a.m., authorities said.
Investigators are treating the case as a homicide, but they have not been able to identify the man. They describe him as being approximately 25 to 40 years old, standing 5 feet 5 inches to 6 feet tall, with a slender build and reddish brown hair.
The body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.
Investigators want anyone with information that could help identify the man or anyone who might have seen anything suspicious at the cemetery since Wednesday evening to contact the Wayne County Sheriff's Office at 919-731-1481.
