Raleigh, N.C. — Twelve people were killed in wrecks on North Carolina highways over the Thanksgiving holiday, according to the state Highway Patrol.
A year ago, 25 people were killed in wrecks over the holiday weekend, authorities said.
The 2009 fatalities included a mother and her two children, who were killed late Wednesday while driving home from the woman's in-laws in Franklin County. Also, two women died in Orange County Thursday when a pickup collided with their Jeep.
