Lenoir man dies in house fire

A man died in a house fire in Lenoir County Thursday, authorities told WITN News in Greenville.

Firefighters were called to the home of Gene Baysden, 65, of Robert E. Lee Drive, at about 8:30 a.m., WITN reported.

Family members told WITN that Baysden was preparing a turkey for their Thanksgiving dinner.

Lenoir County Det. Chris Cahoon said the fire was not kitchen-related. It is unknown what caused the blaze.
