Durham officer arrested for DWI

Durham, N.C. — A Durham police officer was arrested early Wednesday on Interstate 85 and charged with driving while impaired, a spokeswoman for the department said.

After his arrest, Officer N.E. Keith was placed on administrative leave with pay, a standard procedure in cases like his, said the DPD's Kammie Michael.

Keith has been with the department since January 1997.

Another fine example of our law enforcement ignorance. The LAWS are not for THEM!!! They want to do what ever they want and the buddys on the force will get them out of it?!?!?!?! Getting PAID while he is suspended??? If that was an average citizen (You know the ones they are supposed to PROTECT AND SERVE) he would be fired for not being able to drive to work!!

Hate is such a strong word. And, this is certainly nothing to laugh at. Also, Durham is no different than any other city. It's police officers are, indeed, human and, therefore, subject to the same pitfalls as any of us.

The question is: Is this man in need of help? Does he have a problem with his life that causes him to drink, or was this just an isolated incident?

Either way, this man will lose his job, and probably some other acoutrements of life, and sink further into a pit. He needs our prayers and the support of some loving person willing to take him through a healing process. He certainly doesn't need our scorn.

Be thankful, my friends, for all of the blessings you have enjoyed this year and, remember, when the finger of accusation is pointed at someone, there are three fingers pointed back and a thumb pointed upward. What goes around, comes around.

Be careful this weekend, along with the increased Highway Patrol presence, there will be drunk driving LEO's LOL.

I never claimed to be perfect, but I did NOT take an OATH to protect and serve and enforce the laws of the land, this man DID! So how is that a hypocrite? I have said in the past, I do not HATE LEO's, hate is a strong word, I dislike the ones that continue to show up in news stories breaking the law, and here recently the list is long, and getting longer. As for them being there to call in a time of need, trust me I have the ability to defend myself and will do so without a corrupt or drunk LEO to help me!!
