Silver Alert issued for Rocky Mount woman

Candy Mae Bullock

The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert Monday afternoon for a missing Rocky Mount woman.

Candy Mae Bullock, who is believed to be suffering from dementia, was last seen at the United Cab Company at 226 Falls Road. Bullock also goes by the name "Ms. Harris."

The 70-year-old black woman is 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. She has black and gray hair and brown eyes.

Bullock was wearing a black sweatshirt, long black skirt and brown fur-lined boots. She may have been headed to 10283 Straight Gate Road in Whitakers.

On Tuesday, Bullock was seen at the Miner’s Emporium, 141 Sunset Ave. in Rocky Mount, around 2 p.m., police said. Shortly before that surveillance cameras photographed her at La Placita on Benvenue Road.

Anyone with information about Bullock's whereabouts should call the Rocky Mount Police Department at 252-972-1412.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system that quickly notifies the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
