Two members of the 82nd Airborne Division's 4th Brigade Combat Team were killed last week when an improvised explosive device went off in Zabul Province, Afghanistan, the Army said Monday.

Staff Sgt. John Cleaver and Sgt. Daniel Frazier of Company E, 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, died last Thursday when the vehicle-borne IED was detonated outside of an Army forward operating base.

Cleaver, 36, of Marysville, Wash., originally joined the Navy in December 1995. He then enlisted in the Army in June 2006 as motor transport operator. After serving a 15-month tour in Afghanistan, he went on to complete Warrior Leader Course and Airborne School.

He is survived by his mother, Teresa; his father, Walt Wormington; and his sons, Aidan and Collin.

Frazier, 25, of Saint Joseph, Mich., joined the Army as a motor transport operator in April 2006. He deployed to Afghanistan from January 2007 to April 2008.

He is survived by his mother, Roxana; his father, David; and his wife, Brittany.

A memorial in their honor will be held in Afghanistan.
