Cary, N.C. — State troopers say that fatigue likely caused a Raleigh woman to rear-end another vehicle on Interstate 40 in Cary early Monday.
Troopers said that Shameaka Thomas, 32, was driving a Isuzu Rodeo behind a Chrysler Pacifica on I-40 West, near Harrison Avenue, around 3:45 a.m. Thomas' Rodeo hit the Pacifica, and both drivers lost control and crashed into a guardrail on the right shoulder.
The Pacifica driver – Andrew Chigozie, 49, of Durham – was taken to Rex Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Thomas was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision. She told troopers that she felt tired before the wreck. Troopers determined that weather, alcohol and speed were not factors.
Chigozie and Thomas were both headed to work, troopers said.
