Dunn, N.C. — A 78-year-old Wallace man has died after being involved in a three-vehicle wreck in Dunn Friday, and more charges are pending in the case, state troopers said Sunday.
Roy English died after being transported to WakeMed in Raleigh. His 76-year-old wife, Robbie English, was in critical condition Sunday.
The couple was in a car struck by a Dodge pickup truck at N.C. Highways 55 and 242 around noon Friday, troopers said. After the initial collision, another car also hit their vehicle, and the Dodge caught on fire.
State troopers have charged Joseph Bayfden, 26, of Benson with running a stop sign, causing the wreck. Alcohol and speed were not factors, troopers said.
Bayfden and his 3-year-old son were also transported to WakeMed. Two more people in the Englishes' car and the occupants of the third vehicle were not injured.
Troopers said they will meet with the Johnston County District Attorney's Office Monday about further charges.
