The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert Friday for a missing, endangered Apex man.

Amin Sider, 46, who is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment, was last seen at 4733 Pacehaven Lane.

He is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. He has short, black hair and hazel eyes.

Sider was wearing a black turtleneck, black jeans, white and blue sneakers and a camouflage jacket. He could be driving a silver, 2007 Land Rover with N.C. tag 17004112.

The vehicle has chrome rims and temporary registration. His direction of travel was unknown.

Anyone with information should call Detective E.A. Blemgren at the Wake County Sheriff's Office at 919-856-6800.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system that quickly notifies the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.

In reference to the driving, you may be amazed at how many alzhemiers patients who are still in the home manage to get their hands on car keys. They have a lucid moment that gets them going, then become disoriented down the road and continue to wander aimlessly.

"if a person is so mentally impaired that they qualify for a silver alert, why are they allowed to drive?" -dbcooper41

Agreed! MOST of these alerts have also had vehicle descriptions with them and a possible destination. MOST of these also get cancelled very quickly with NO explanation. The quick issue of these alerts and the quick CANCELLATIONS of them is what is diluting their effectiveness.

i think they mean porchhaven lane, not pacehaven. nice attention to detail. https://services.wakegov.com/ptax/main/billing/statement.aspx?search=owner&yrs=2&prev=summ&pk=14534563&summpg=1&pks=1-15057237-4247077,1-16052835-4247077,1-14419726-4247077,1-14534563-4247077,1-13646166-4519773&last=sider&first=&middle=&bus=&nbpg=1

it looks like a vacant lot?

i think deb was just making a point. does anyone know where 4733 Pacehaven Lane is? it doesn't show up on google maps(i know, not the perfect reference). is it in the apex area?

Deb, where did it say this man has a suspended license? Did I miss something here?
