RDU travel down in 2009

e-mail print friendly

Officials at Raleigh-Durham International Airport are looking forward to a robust holiday travel season after slower traffic through the first three quarters of the year, Airport Director John Brantley said Thursday.

Traffic through the airport is off about 9 percent for the year to date, a reflection of the economy overall, Brantley said.

While air travel is down, parking and rental cars have been a positive indicator, Brantley said.

He told the airport's Board of Directors that he expected to see travel growth return to RDU by autumn of 2010.

I was amazed at the low fare I got to Los Angeles this year. I sure don't mind paying for a bag considering I paid less than $200.00 roundtrip. It seems like folks want low fares and freebies but don't want to pay the cost to actually get them. I dont remenmber anyone going to a restaurant and asking for a free trip. I sure won't ask the airline for a free meal.

now that the airlines are charging 20 each way for a bag and a surcharge for holiday travel i could care less if traffic is down. they created the mess.
