A former North Carolina Highway Patrol trooper is facing his second charge of driving while impaired this year.

Garner police arrested John C. Fogg at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday and charged him with DWI, authorities said. He was also cited for impersonating an officer, according to authorities.

Fogg was working for the Highway Patrol when he was charged in June with DWI. He was arrested after he crashed his personal vehicle into another car in Durham County.

He was released from his job as a trooper after an internal investigation into that incident. He had worked as a trooper for less than 2 years.

TOMUCHDRAMA, MY POINT EXACTLY, BUT WE DON'T KNOW ANYTHING

"In-house" doesn't exist anymore it seems. I would rather tell someone they are messing up and give them a chance to fix it, and I do that. But it's no longer the norm. The "new school", no matter what agency, just isn't the same...

leo-nc, that's right about the recommendation. However, they can't just kill it at the District level, if they know that the applicant is a real yo-yo. I think those who know the applicant best, who watched grow up, outh to make the decision. I don't ever recall hearing bad stuff about Patrolamn back then. Were there some that weren't Dudley do-right? Yes, but it was handled in house.

"leo-nc, journey was talking about the lower standards of NCSHP. I was replying to journey about the District First Sergeant doesn't have and hasn't had veto over applicant since late last century. Back then your start on trying to be a Patrolman started with the District First Sergeant. If you did no get by him and it was always him back then. YOu got no further. The Third Hunt Administration figgered out that to get minorities and females, the had to lower some physical standards and let apps go by the District First Sergeant. So I was pointing out that hiring decisions are made by folks that don't really know the applicant."-- Ok, I get it now. Well hey, I'm all in agreement for bringing it back down. I do know the Sgt or F/Sgt can make a recommendation. Don't know what happens to it after that. I stay out of it and focus on my job. Politics and I don't play well together.

Fine example to the rest of us dontcha think? I had 3 large beers with dinner Saturday night and I let the wife (who wasn't drinking) drive me home. It's just common sense.
