Rocky Mount police are offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the Sept. 8 death of a 17-year-old boy shot while running from a robbery in his neighborhood.

Police said that Jermaine Larquez Lynch came upon four to six armed men robbing a group playing cards outside a home, near where he lived in the 2100 block of Travis Run. When Lynch tried to flee, a gunman shot him at least twice in the back, police said.

One gunman was described a black man, between 45 and 50 years, with a thin build and a sparse, gray beard. All the other men wore masks and were disguised as police officers, police said.

In October, police arrested two of the residence's occupants on drug charges, but no arrests have been made in Lynch's death.

Anyone with information about the robbery or shooting should call Rocky Mount police at 252-972-1411 or Twin County Crime Stoppers at 252-977-1111. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in certain felony cases, and callers never have to identify themselves.
