Weekend road work hits I-40, Beltline, Wade Avenue

Road work and an emergency sewer-line replacement will affect traffic on Interstate 40, the Beltline and Wade Avenue this weekend.

The ramp at Exit 301 from I-40 West to Interstate 440, or the Outer Beltline, will be closed as part of a resurfacing project. In addition, I-440 West will be reduced to one lane between Rock Quarry and Poole roads.

The closures began at 9 p.m. Friday and will continue until 5 a.m. Monday, the state Department of Transportation said.

A detour will be posted to guide motorists from I-40 to exit at Rock Quarry Road (Exit 300A) and return to the Beltline.

Meanwhile, traffic on Wade Avenue, between Brooks Avenue and Dixie Trail, will be reduced to one lane in both directions. Crews will be making an emergency sewer-line replacement at Wade Avenue and Banbury Road.

The work started at 7 p.m. Friday and is scheduled to last until  7 a.m. Sunday.
