UNC-CH considers tuition hike

UNC-Chapel Hill

A task force is studying the possibility of tuition increases at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

At a meeting Wednesday, the group agreed to suggest two options to Chancellor Holden Thorp.

Under the first plan, undergraduates would see tuition increase by 5.2 percent; graduate students would see a 3.7 percent increase.

Under the second plan, an across-the-board increase of 6.5 percent would be levied on all students.

Any change must be approved by the chancellor, the Board of Trustees, the UNC Board of Governors and the state General Assembly.
