Morrisville, N.C. — Midwest Airlines plans to start service between Raleigh-Durham International Airport and Milwaukee next April 1, officials said Tuesday.
The carrier will schedule two daily non-stop flights on 76-seat Embraer-170 aircraft, officials said.
Operating as Midwest Express, Midwest Airlines offered service between RDU and Milwaukee from 1998 to 2001. Returning as Midwest Connect, the airline offered RDU-Milwaukee service in 2007 and 2008.
“RDU is happy to welcome Midwest Airlines back to the Research Triangle Region,” Teresa Damiano, RDU's director of marketing, said in a statement. “Each year, more than 50,000 passengers travel between RDU and Milwaukee.”
The news comes on the heels of recent announcements by other airlines offering service at RDU. JetBlue Airways will launch two additional daily flights between RDU and Boston next summer, while Southwest Airlines will begin one daily nonstop flight to St. Louis in May.
