A 43-year-old man wanted for probation violations was caught breaking into his ex-girlfriend's house in Weldon Saturday, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Deputy J. Puhak responded to a call about a break-in in progress. He found Steven D. Rawls breaking into the kitchen window of his ex-girlfriend's house, deputies said.

Rawls was treated for a cut to his wrist and released from Halifax County Regional Medical Center.

He was arrested and charged with breaking-and-entering, injury to real property and domestic criminal trespass. He was placed in the Halifax County Jail under a bond of an undisclosed amount. His first court date was set for Dec. 8.

Deputies said that Rawls was wanted for probation violations in Northampton County. The state Department of Correction lists him as an absconder from probation. He was convicted in February of interfering with emergency communications, DOC records show.

Who dates this sort of person in the first place? There are plenty of rational men left, right?

The ex-girlfriend will take this guy back and 8 weeks from now we'll be reading about her

twc, except for 1st degree murder, all persons in pretrial confinement in the jail have a bond. He is in jail because he did not post a bond.

Slow news day?

He was placed in jail "with bond"? Is this a mistake by the writer or a mistake by the court? He should be held without bond--OBVIOUSLY!
