Truck overturns on N.C. 55 in Apex

A truck overturned and spilled tar on N.C. Highway 55 south near U.S. 1 in Apex Friday morning. The crash caused two of three lanes to be blocked for more than three hours, authorities said.

Capt. Ann Stephens, spokeswoman for Apex police, said the load inside the truck shifted, causing the truck to tip. No other vehicles were involved.

Driver Estobon Garcia Perez was unhurt, Stephens said.

That turn is particularly tough for a truck, because of the crown in the road. Tankers are especially vulnerable. The article says it went over because the load shifted.... that's what happens in tankers. He took the turn too fast. Have you ever seen the propane transports go up on two wheels at the same intersection? At least they are empty, heading to the pipeline there on 55. Just a word of caution, if you have to lean in seat of your vehicle, you are going too fast for the curve.. especially for tankers.

The intersection of Highway 55 and the U.S. 1 Exit is always a congested site everytime I go through there. Traffic in the mornings is so backup it's no wonder folks who come from either Holly Springs or Fuquay Varina(who used Highway 55 everyday for the commute through Apex towards Durham and RTP)is an eyesore. Getting on or off the exit ramps of U.S Highway 1(Going South toward Sanford or going North toward the Raleigh Beltline into Wake Forest or Rocky Mount)has been a headache since the DOT fixed it over four years ago. Fighting traffic with those big rigs or heavy construction trucks is one of them.

How remember when Highway 55 was at one time a narrow two lane road that stretch from Durham into Fuquay Varina? I do. I remember the intersection of Highway 64 and Highway 55 had a stop sign there before they put a bridge there and cause a mess of headaches going into Apex.

LOL, thankfully the driver was ok. These jokes are cracking me up, especially being tar-dy. Bahahaha

How did the driver overturn the truck in the first place?

those jokes were a little um.......tacky. LoL Hope nobody was hurt.
